A routine maintenance usually takes about 1-2 hours to complete and includes a coil cleaning, systems operations check and safety check. In addition, your technician will provide you with any recommendations they feel are necessary.
A good, thorough maintenance performed by a licensed professional usually costs between $50-$100.
At One Hour we recommend a tune up twice a year. The best time of the year is spring/summer for cooling maintenance, and fall/winter for heating preventive maintenance. Regular maintenance on your system not only helps it to run cleaner, it also helps to reduce and even prevent those annoying, inconvenient breakdowns.
There are some filters meant to last one month and 3 months; however; is recommended to check them at least every 3 weeks to make sure they are not getting restricted too soon. If your home is especially dusty or you are sharing a living space with your favorite furry friend, we recommend even more often:)
First rule of thumb, change your filters regularly! Dirty filters are one of the leading causes of HVAC issues. In addition, scheduling regular maintenance visits will keep your system running at peak performance.
Some people like to wipe the system down the outside equipment every few months or so with simply water and a soft brush, however it’s not necessary. If the units are close to trees or weeds, we recommend homeowners to keep landscaping clear of the system as cut grass can definitely cause issues.
We’ve experienced some pretty wild encounters over the years! However, common problems include: dirty coils, bad charged capacitors, biological growth on indoor coils and dirty ducts, shorted low voltage wire, refrigerant leaks, or even burned motors. It’s always important to have your system diagnosed by a licensed, trained professional.
